* While Advent is a season of hope and Christmas is a season of joy, not everyone feels hopeful or like celebrating. Grief, illness, aging, depression, loneliness, unemployment, and loss are magnified. For many of us during the holidays, the magnitude of our weary world and personal lives weighs on our hearts and minds. Our grief and sorrow feel stark against the backdrop of festivity and joy that everyone else seems to be feeling.
In the Northern Hemisphere, December 21 is the longest night, the winter solstice. It marks the shortest day of the year, the official start of winter. You are invited to this time of worship, “Advent Hope on the Longest Night”, to acknowledge loss and find hope through Christ, the light that shines through all darkness.
