ANGEL FOOD MINISTRIES
WE'RE AN OFFICIAL HOSTING
SITE!!!!!!
Angel Food Ministries helps provide food for over
500, 000 families throughout the country each month. Ascension is a proud
member church now, serving the local community.
Angel Food offers a variety of food - the Signature box costs $30 and has
enough meat to feed a family of 4 for a week. The menu changes monthly.
Ascension's Host Site Director April Grant says, "I think what I like
best...is there is no limit to how much you can order and now you can order the
monthly "specials" without ordering a regular "Signature"
box. Prices vary, but nothing is over $35. Everyone is welcome to order - there
are no income requirements."
The Angel Staff (April Grant, Ingrid Robb, Celeste
Schnabel) will be in the
church office to take your order (cash, EBT, money order) 9 a.m. - noon on
Tuesdays and 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Thursdays throughout the month, except for the
week of distribution and holidays. Check the NYCU for specified dates and times.
We're adding a Sunday to each month when I will take cash and Food Stamp orders during the 10 a.m. Sunday School hour.
All orders you place with our church will be distributed on a Saturday in
Acton Hall. All orders are paid for in advance. Sorry, no checks.
For a $2 convenience fee, you can order online using a credit or debit
card. Go to , select "More", then
"Find a Local Site" and select Ascension Lutheran. If you need help
placing an online order, call the Angel Cell and April will walk you through
it. The Angel Cell is 614-390-4419.

Council News From Bev Cook-Finley - The 2009 church council (voted on at the January congregational meeting) is at work. Our purpose is to provide general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation, and we want to keep you well-informed. We meet the second Tuesday evening of each month, and minutes of the meetings are recorded. These minutes are posted below after they are approved, and you will find some copies on the information tables, too. When you have concerns or suggestions about our congregation, please feel free to let any one of us know. We are interested in your input. Better yet, join one of our committees and share your time and talents. Watch the NYCU in the Sunday bulletins to find meeting dates, and plan to attend. You will be welcomed!

LENT 2010
Ash Wednesday is February
17th
Wearing ashes on our forehead, we begin another
Lenten journey with two services on Ash Wednesday at 12:15 in the
Assembly Room and 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Both services will
include Holy Communion and imposition of ashes, as we remember that we are but
dust with this symbol of penitence and purification.
We will continue our tradition of
Wednesday services throughout Lent.
Beginning February 24, we will have services on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. in
the Assembly Room and 7:15 p.m. in Acton Hall. The 12:15 service will include
Holy Communion. The evening services will be preceded by a simple supper at
6:30 p.m. Dates are: February 24, March 3, 10, 17 and 24.
This year, our Lenten theme is "Lenten Characters". Pastor Tim and Vicar Bob
will bring the events leading up to the passion of our Lord to life by
exploring the different characters involved.
