Prepare for Life's Journey with God's Gear

Quality Education Since 1965

April Showers bring May Flowers and Fun at ALP.
These final weeks are jammed pack with fun and excitement. We begin the month with our 3rd Annual Bike-A-Thon. This spring fundraiser allows us to not only raise money for our preschool, but to give the children an opportunity to physically participate.
During the week of May 17 – 22, we will again be holding our Annual Spring Art Show. In conjunction with the Art Show, our halls will be filled with grandparents as we welcome them to our school on Wednesday, May 20th. Last year’s Grandparents' Day was a huge success and we look forward to another lovely day.
As we enter the final days of school, all of our families will enjoy time together viewing our year in review DVD as well as one last Family Potluck. It is so hard to believe that we are coming to the end of another year.
On behalf of the entire Preschool Staff, I would like to thank all of our families that shared this past year with us. You will remain in our hearts forever. Registrations for the upcoming 2009-2010 Preschool Year are coming in faster than ever.

Registration for the 2009-2010 Preschool Year is now underway.  Registration Forms are located on the table in the Preschool Lobby.

If you would like further information, or if you would like to schedule a school tour, please contact the Preschool at 268-2010.

Council News
From Bev Cook-Finley - The 2009 church council (voted on at the January congregational meeting) is at work.  Our purpose is to provide general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation, and we want to keep you well-informed.  We meet the second Tuesday evening of each month, and minutes of the meetings are recorded.  These minutes are posted below after they are approved, and you will find some copies on the information tables, too.

When you have concerns or suggestions about our congregation, please feel free to let any one of us know.  We are interested in your input.  Better yet, join one of our committees and share your time and talents.  Watch the NYCU in the Sunday bulletins to find meeting dates, and plan to attend.  You will be welcomed!

The Ohio Benefit Bank is a web-based computer program to connect low and moderate-income Ohioans with access to work supports such as tax credits and public benefits.  The OBB is offered through a public-private partnership between the Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks and more than 400 faith-based, non-profit, governmental and private-sector partners.

Ascension Lutheran Church is an Ohio Benefit Bank partner.  We have trained counselors available to help you determine your eligibility for assistance services and to help fill out applications.  For more information, or to see if you are eligible, contact the church office, Pastor Tim, or Vicar Ramona.

Help Make Our
Garden Grow

Spring time means garden time. Already some of our members have been starting seedlings at home to plant in the Helping Hands Garden behind the Haimerl Center.

Now there is a wish list of items we can use when gardening begins in earnest--a rototiller, more wading pools like the ones we used last year, shovels, and small hand tools. Of course, many hands make light work.

If you can help with the garden in any way, please contact Job Ebenezer

 Organ Rededication Service And Concert

On May 17th there will be a grand organ rededication service and concert.  The service will include the presentation of a beautiful plaque showing the memorials given by our church family to fund the renovation. Featured on the concert will be our current organist, Bob Hendrickson, as well as returning organists Chuck Yanarella and David Robinsons. There will also be a performance of a massed choir and organ of a selection from Rutter's "Gloria".  The concert will begin at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, with a reception to follow.  For more information, please contact Chad Loomis or Myron Miller.   Please join us to bless our wonderful organ!
