 Library News December 2009

December 2009

The Christmas Cross by Max Lucado has a very unusual format for a book written for adults.  It is a picture book and throughout the book are envelopes holding items that pertain to the story.  It is a bittersweet, but beautiful tale about a man who is having difficulties in his marriage and finds his way home.  This book's theme truly deals with "the reason for the season."

Quotations of the Month:

Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.  - Oren Arnold

My first copies of Treasure Island and Huckleberry Finn still have some blue-spruce needles scattered in the pages. They smell of Christmas still."  - Charlton Heston Website of the Month:

Prayers and Customs of Christmas   This is a wonderful website for Advent and Christmas.  It explains the traditions and ceremonies of the Advent season and includes prayers and meditations for the Advent and Christmas seasons.  It also includes stories and recipes.

All Things Christmas  That really says it all.  I cannot recommend this website more highly.
