REFUGEE / RESETTLEMENT MINISTRY
Mission: To welcome refugee families to the United States and/or assist families who need assistance resettling from crisis situations.
The Salazar family from Colombia arrived in September of 2004. We helped them find a place to live and to make their first adjustments to life in America. They are now independent and in fact, are giving back to the congregation.
This has been a tremendously rewarding ministry. The Ascension community has embraced the Salazar family with donations of time and money. We are also blessed to have the Salazar family worshiping with us. We are open to sponsoring another family in the future.
The Kamazima family’s two daughters, who were awaiting legal documents for years to come from Africa to live with their parents, were given financial assistance through this ministry when clearance was granted for them to come to the USA. We are blessed to see the family reunited and the girls are now members of Ascension.
The Montoya family from Bogota, Colombia was given financial assistance to relocate from Albany, New York to here. They are employed and living comfortable in our area. They also have been attending our church.
**Anyone interested in becoming involved in this ministry is welcome. Call the church office to get contact information.**
Ascension is working with CRIS (Community and Refugee Immigration Services).
All this is made possible by donations/food sales at auctions and other events
